Dinner of Society
A performance dinner where four people who do not know each other, represent society.
This work was shown in Museum Rijswijk where it's part of the Textile Biennial with the theme of Food for Thought.
The ‘Dinner of Society’ is a performance dinner consisting of four editions that take place in Museum Rijswijk. Four people are invited at the dinner table. Although they are strangers to each other, together they represent society. This representation is completed by means of a personal dish of each guest. The dishes are prepared by Marian Humme, Groene Hart Catering. During dinner the participants talk about a social topic. The stains that the guests leave on the tablecloth, in combination with a recording of the conversations will be exposed as an installation and give a reflection of the Dinner of Society. In a time of polarization and alienation, it will give the visitor the opportunity to relive the conversations, and this will provide food for thought.
There are four dinners with the following themes:
- Identity Wednesday 18th of August 2021
- Inquisitive and Activistic Friday 24th of September 2021
- Abundance and Discomfort Sunday 28th of November 2021
- The Last Supper Thursday 6th of Januari 2022
